Painted Ladies

as i drove into the devil's valley last sunday
..a little saddened by the ending of a wonderful boating 'holiday'...
my spirits were lifted by wave upon wave of thousands of
painted lady butterflies.
they are heading north as they grace our blue skies.

nothing like a JOLT of nature to set your mind on the right path.


two very important notes:
1. my favorite thing is their 'drinking straw'.
2. when johnny hyde was little his mom told him that every time he saw a "flutterby" it was his grandmother come to say 'hi". jessie's nana jones could not have been any cuter.
