so i'm back on the jessie james. for a month give or take a few days. next camping trip is august 15th through the 24th. until then i'll be sanding and varnishing. great to be here with the sights and sounds of the estuary. this is our neighbor charlie. being a night heron keeps him pretty busy fishing off of our dock all night. but he does take the time to patrol the docks around our boat. we appreciate it. he warns us of any body or any thing approaching our boat....by screaming in that charming night heron squawking way and flying away until the intruder leaves. scares the b'jesus outta ya if you happen to be near by. i do enjoy watching him catch his fish all night. this being a 'city' marina it's reassuring to see that there are living sea creatures in this water. so charlie and us, we get along fairly well. generally he's a pretty quiet guy. keeps to himself.
